HOW TO GRILL THE
PERFECT STEAK

FROM THE FIRST SEASONINGS TO THE FINAL SLICE

GREAT STEAK IS A PROCESS

The best steaks don’t happen by accident. Follow these simple, proven steps to bring out bold flavor, a perfect crust, and juicy, tender results every time.

SIX SIMPLE STEPS. ONE GREAT STEAK.

THE PERFECT STEAK FORMULA

QUALITY CUT

Great steak starts with a well-marbled, high-quality cut you love.

HIGH HEAT

Searing over a high heat builds a flavorful crust and locks in juices.

REIGHT TEMPERATURE

Hitting the right internal temperature ensures perfect doneness every time.

1. CHOOSE THE RIGHT CUT

2. PREP IT RIGHT

Step 1
PAT DRY

Remove moisture for a better sear and crust.

Step 1
OIL LIGHTLY

Lightly coat the steak to promote browning.

Step 1
SEASON GENEROUSLY

Use kosher salt and black pepper. Season all sides.

Step 1
LET THE GRILL HEAT

Preheat your grill for at least 15 minutes.

A DRY SURFACE BUILDS A BETTER CRUST.

4. SEAR, THEN FINISH

SEAR OVER HIGH HEAT

Place steak over direct heat. Sear for 2–4 minutes per side without moving.

FLIP ONCE & CRUST FORMS

Flip only once to build a deep, even crust.

MOVE TO INDIRECT HEAT

Move steak to the cooler side of the grill.

CLOSE THE LID TO FINISH

Close the lid and cook until it reaches your target temperature.

PULL STEAK 5° BEFORE YOUR TARGET

5. CHECK THE TEMPERATURE

INSERT FROM SIDE

Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the steak.

AIM FOR THE CENTER

Make sure the tip is in the center, not near the edge.

AVOID BONE & FAT

Bone and fat can throw off the temperature reading.

6. REST & SLICE

5-10 MINUTES

Rest the steak tented loosely with foil for 5 – 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute. Slice against the grain for maximum tenderness.

COMMON STEAK MISTAKES

GRILL NOT HOT ENOUGH

A hot grilll is key to a great steak.

FLIPPING TOO OFTEN

Flip only once for the best crust.

CUTTING TOO SOON

Rest your steak, or the juices will run out.

GUESS THE TEMPERATURE

Use a thermometer for perfect results.
